Hey, At least the condom catheter was able to serve some purpose. I had the idea if i attatched it and pointed myself down and had an episode, i would be able to have a rough idea how much an average flood for me in terms of urine output in oz.. since the leg bags have the handy dandy measuring indicators on the bag. 16 oz is an average flood, though ive sometimes had it as much as 20 oz in the morning.. so i need a diaper taht absorbs at least 16 oz.. multiply that by 2 and you get 32 oz.. so, in order for a diaper to serve well as an extended wear, that is to be able to hold at least two wettings it needs at least 32 oz capacity.. but then you need to add some breathing room.. because we all know that total cap is not useable cap sometimes.. so multiply 16 times 3 and you get 48 oz... so... i might need to stick to the higher tier diapers.. is my logic sound? |

Sounds reasonable to me. These were good figures for the rest of us, who do not have such precise numbers for ourselves. |

Now, when i say flood, i mean a full on Niagra falls after hours of retaining, which happens every now and then. The actual amount i void per episode can vary greatly. Sometimes its sevral small spurts in a row, or niagra falls all at once. Molicare has the acqisiton rate, abena the overal cap... if only there was a way to combine the two... Peace out! Rob |

You're going to need a lot more than 32oz capacity for two floodings. The maximum capacity for a diaper is often measured in a lab and by laying it flat then very slowly pouring in as much water as it will hold before overflowing. Obviously this is nowhere as strenuous as wearing it so most of the diaper is vertical, moving around in it, or worse yet sitting on a diaper and compressing the material as it tries to absorb your pee. Realistically speaking from experience, when flooding is involved the back half of the diaper will not even get very wet before the front starts leaking (unless you're using a premium diaper with superior wicking). Diapers need time to distribute and fully absorb pee, but flooding just doesn't allow for this very well. In my experience I've needed to look at it as maximum capacity- before leaking. Some diapers that claim up to 72 oz capacity won't even get me past 12 oz before leaking upon my second wetting (sometimes first). While others who claim 62oz will deliver on that claim most times before leaking. A major part of this is also fit. If it fits right for you, then it's more likely to work as well. Unfortunately the only way to find out this part is to try the various brands. |

Well i multiplied 16 oz * 3 and the answer was 48 ounces. Which is more than either than Abena or Confidry, if you go by Northshore Care's numbers. So, if i were to have 3 major floods (which is probably not likely to happen; I usually have that big of an output after retaining several hours, and it is usally not repeated for a while, but this type of wetting usually saturates the brief im wearing) in a row, i would leak.. I think i might ask Northshore care how they got theri numbes..if they can tell me. Peace out! Rob |

Check out this site here. https://www.xpmedical.com/adult-diaper-reviews Their test doesn't account for activity or pess out leaks though, so the real world numbers are lower than what xp got. Still, there are diapers out there than can handle 3 large floodings (though just barely and in only in the best situations- in my opinion) |
