Hello. This is my first post here. I'm a 28 year old guy dealing with OAB (very frequent urination) and light bladder leakage. I use these things called "Guards for men" by depends, that stick onto my underwear. I do find the guards are not adequate for what I need, as the adhesive falls off, or my parts will slide away, or the water will flow onto other areas besides the "guard". They're also not terribly comfortable, but they at least help keep my pants dry, which is better than no protection at all. Are there any other guys that use pads, guards, shields, or w/e they can be called as their solution? What brands would you recommend? Thank you.

Hi Matthew welcome to the forum

You will find a lot of great info here and support from the users it has really helped me to deal with my OAB issue.

Have you seen an urologist and had any tests done to see what could be causing your bladder issues if not I would recommend seeing one as soon as you can. The tests are not pleasant but are not to bad and they help to determine want may be causing your issue and can rule out any bigger issues.

Male guards aren't the best way to deal with leakage if you only have slight dribbles then depends real fit for men (looks and feels like underware) may work ok for you. They helped me for the few months when my blader issue first started before I started to have full floods,

If you find your bladder leakage is a bit more then the real fits can handle then try an abena pullup level 3 diaper it will have more absorbancy then the real fit.

But for light leakage real fits work great and are not that expensive and you can Carry a spare real fit in your coat pocket or if you wear cargo pants they fit in the side pocket.

Greetings, Matthew. The Abena Abri Man male guards are a better solution than Depend guards. The adhesive is better, the capacity is higher, and the coverage area is greater. You would have to order these online.

Guards are a good solution for involuntary drips and dribbles. But they are not a good solution for urgency and frequency. As another commentator said, see a urologist about this, if you have not already. Incontinence is almost always a symptom of some underlying pathology. Sometimes it's minor, sometimes it's serious.

Thank you for the recommendation. I will try those out. I have seen my GP but he waved it off as dietary/weight issues, due to my age, I think. Though he did do a prostate exam. I will see another doctor because I'm still having issues, despite changing my diet.

Thank you for your post. I know of the real fit, but I was trying to avoid any underwear replacements due to both cost reasons and I feel its going overboard a bit. I may have to bite the bullet there if things don't improve.

Many of us have had the experience of being blown off by a GP. Many primary physicians are not helpful with incontinence issues, especially for younger guys. The best solution is to see a specialist -- an actual urologist.

Welcome to the group Matthew. Like you I started wearing guards, but quickly learned depending on the amount of leakage/flooding they didn't hold up.

Hopefully you can find out what is causing your issues. A lot of great information here.

Thank you, Noe. I'm wondering if theres a way my insurance will let me see one without a referral. Damn HMOs.
batman381327, what solution did you wind up choosing?

Through the process of trail and error, I have found diapers work the best for what my bladder does. When my bladder acts up it floods and guards just can't handle that.

Matthew, I know what you mean. Sometimes it can be difficult to get a referral. As a first step, try asking for one when you meet with your GP. If he/she says no, follow up in a week, and say your symptoms have worsened. That typically leads to a referral because there are liability issues if doctors do not refer.
