Hey all,

Id like to bring up a couple things in this post. First, since i'm on the last bag of a case of Northshore Care I ordered back in September for work extended wear, I figured it was time to stock up again on premium/extended wear diapers. I figured, no problem, id just go to XP medical and order a case of Abena X-Plus. So I went through and filled out the order form.. and hit submit..and on the transaction page it said..DENIED instead of the approved/conformation number that XP Medcial gives you when you order on their site. I'm like huh.. why was it denied. I went back and looked.. and the card had the wrong expiration date. So, i fixed and rechecked the number matched my card.. and hit ok.. and still it said denied.. I'm like.. what the heck?? What could I do except try again.. and the third time through it worked... I successfully placed my order. Has this happened to anyone else? For some weird reason your credit card was denied on the site even tough you know it was valid? Don't get me wrong.. i have complete trust in Gary and his ability to fix any issues.. If necessary i would have placed a phone order. It was just a bit concerning to see my order denied..when usually it doesn't happen. I'm glad it went through the third time..because other than my credit card, i don't really have a way to pay for the diapers I need online..

Second thing id like to ask is about something called compression leaks. When I go to work, I pad up with northshore care with a Tranquility topline contour booster, and have been wearing undewear, PUL pants and a bodystocking over the diaper. I don't know why , but 9 times out of 10 i seem to retain everything until i get home and then have an all out flood, even if I use the bathroom in the middle of the shcool day. Without fail the the Northshore brief doesn't seem to hande it,and I usually have been getting the underwear wet. The good news is that my pants have stayed dry. Which, I think, is the overall goal for any incontience manangemnt solution. Its just im wondering if im putting too much pressure with the onesie, PUL pants and the underwear on the diaper.. could the diaper absorb better if I didn't have so many layers.. if I had just the onesie? The person making the pocket diaper for me told me that if i use a body stocking that is tight, i might get compression leaks. I would feel really awkward not wearing a body stocking when diapered.. are there alternatives with a roomier crotch to the 4care stockings on Gary's site that people have successfully used with cloth diapering? The person making the pocket diaper also pointed out that with print pocket diapers, its a LOT harder to tell a cloth diaper from regular underwear if it happens to peek over the top of the pants than say a disposable.. You don't have the telltale plastic shine.. from afar it could look like youre just wearing underwear. Which would mitigate the need somewhat for aa bodystocking. But then on the other hand.. what should I do for diaper support? I mean, if it gets full and wet.. theres gonna be sag.. The bodystockings I wear have been wonderful in keeping my diaper up and snug even when it has been saturuated.

I saw the polo shit bodystocking/bodysuit on easy access clothing, but the problem is that the only size availabe right now is XXL.. which I think is too big for me. I think ill jsut have to wait and see when the clot hdiaepr gets here what size bodystocking would be needed based on measurments. Until then.. stay dry.. and PLEASE if you have any suggestions feel free to post it!

Peace out!

Rob

Rob,

Concerning the credit card issue, I have noticed that if the first time you put the card info in and it get denied because of an error, when you go back to re-enter the information, certain fields are cleared as a security measure. It is possible that you missed one of those fields such as the CVV2 field. That could be all that it was.

As far as the compression, I think it could very well be possible you are compressing the diaper too much and not allowing for flow of liquid to the diaper for absorbtion. I have found good body stocking/onesie at of all places baby-pants.com. I know it is geared to the AB world but they do have some good stuff there and often the same stuff as on other sites sometimes for cheaper. I have some of their plain color and white onesies that work great and the sizing is perfect for me.

Sociologygeek,

It is highly unlikely that your clothing is so tight as to be causing compression leaks. Such leaks are much more likely as "press out" from when you sit down and your full weight is pressing on the diaper and causing urine to be pressed out.

Your clothing should not be causing your diaper and booster to not absorb effectively.

It sounds as if you simply may be wearing the diaper too long without changing. Are you saying that you wear the same diaper from home, during work, and then travel back home again without a change? How long is that?

Re onsies or body stockings, there are several good vendors. Kins (BabyKins) in Canada makes a good onesie. Also check the onesies at Fetware.

John,

Well, yes.. because I fail to see the point of changing a diapre if it isnt wet while im on the job. in most cases, Ive been completly dry all day, retaining everything until i go home.. and then, niagra falls. Most likely, i rellease so much urine that i saturate the diaper and throw more urine at it than it can absorb.. it very well may be that it can absorb everyhthing i throw at it, but just not that fast. At any rate, despite the underewear over the diaper being wet, my pants have stayed dry, which is the main goal :)

Does this answer your question?

Peace out!

Rob

Rob,

Yes, I understand now and think you are correct. You are "flooding" the diaper at the end of the day and it just cannot absorb quickly enough.

Abena diapers have a fairly good rate of absorption, but you probably are just overwhelming it.

Actually, ive been wearing Northshore care, but its funny you mention Abena.. the case I ordered arrived today :) Which is good, because i was tired of putting up with the stiffer northshore care...

Peace out!

Rob

I had multiple issues with NorthShore. For one, someone got my CC info off their sight and tried to use it 4 states away at a hotel. Second, I had isssues with checking out also. Ended up needing to use an online helper.

Greetings SociologyGeek.

I usually get by with the Attends underwear sold by XP. For awhile, I was in the habit of wearing pair of standard, men's briefs over these. Like you, I found that this strategy seems to make leaks more likely. My theory is that compressing the absorbent core prevents it from absorbing fluid as it is designed to. It's like a sponge. Leave it in an expanded state, and it absorbs. Scrunch it up, not so much.
