Hey all,

For the most part, managing my incontinence while on the job substitute teaching has been relativiely painless. I haven't needed to change at school this school year. However, I used the bathroom on one of the days I subbed in the self-contained classroom, with a mix of emotionally imparied studedents, cognitevley imapaired, and autsim. WHen i was in the bathroom, i used the toilet pretty much successfuly, but got a bit on the floor and on my pants. I didn't have time to clean the bathroom, and I didnt know where the chemicals were. I used paper towels to clean up the urine on the floor, and was meaning to clean it up at the end of the day, but i forgot. I had forgotten all about it until a student trying to provoke me on the last day of my assigment said "He peed on the bathroom floor." Which, technically was true, but she was'nt showing respect. This is a student who as a matter of couse defies authority, and has been known to tell lies to get a rise out of teachers. It just bothers me a little. If I hadn't tried to use the toilet at school, then this wouldn't have happened. Perhaps when i have enxtended wear, no matter what happens.. just use it and be done with it..so i can avoid any future potential embarassments.

Peace out!

Rob

The students these day don't have respect for themselves little along a person with authority. I am in diapers 24/7 so there isn't any chance I will very use a restroom, other than to chance my protection. I am sorry to here a student is giving you a hard time , but things have a way of coming back and biting a person in the butt. This person will probably be on this forum wanting help sometime in their life time. Keep your head up and keep teach save the one you can.

Rob,

If you consider the source, I'm sure other adults will also. Our world is full of folks who, for whatever reason, are eager to demean others, especially those who are physically handicapped. They need to get over it, and so do we. Good luck dealing with her in the future, if you must. Keep us informed; we all need to deal with such folks from time to time, and your experience will be useful.
