Post subject:  Urologist appointment

Hey all,

I have an appointment with my urologist in a few weeks. My main agenda this time will be to discuss the concerns i had before I left for camp, namely am I letting go enough.. or am I retaining urine..I seem to alternate beteween niagra falls and a dry desert.. What concerns me is that when I was teaching yesterday, I was dry all day without bathroom breaks.. I didnt feel the need to go to the bathroom.. and I really didn't know where the faculry bathrooms were anyway.. so changing/using the toilet would have been interesting to say the least. I don't htink i actually wet the diaper until I got home. It's possible that this was due to reduced fluid intake.. I remember not drinking water unitl the last half of the day. Of course, it goes without saying that I need to keep hydrated. And I do try, its just sometimes with my ADHD..i forget. While I may be wetting more if i drink water.. at least I'm helpinng to avoid kidney stones. I will ask her if it is time to consider catherization, (that is, if im at risk for retaining urine) and whether biofeedback might be an option again. I know, I said i wasn't going to pursue that anymore.. but, after spending a small fortune on diapers this past summer, and Attends changing tis products, It's possible that my tolerance for just wearing diapers and living with it is changing some what. Of course, it goes without saying that I don't know how effective this round will be IF i go for it. Remembering to do the excercises takes commitment. As of right now I don't have any teaching jobs lined up.. but htat could change, and i hope it does change. I will NOT be doing distraction techiniques if i feel an episode coming on while teaching. I MUST be 100% focused on my students.

I will also ask them if they can x-ray me to see how the kidney stones are doing... and possibly go for a urodynamics evaluation. I realize the best tool for diagnoising troubles would be the flurourodyamics at U of M..but that ain't an option... I don't feel like asking my mom to make that long drive down to U of M again... especially since doing all that driving got us the result of "hey, you have a voidng dysfucntion. Go off catapres and do these excercises." I'm still off catapres.. I did the excercises.. and was dry.. for 4 years... think about this... If driving for 4 hours each way for multiple times over the course of 2009 got me dry for 4 years...what would a second run produce? More of the same im guessing...

If i did do CIC every 4 hours.. woudl that elimnate the need for diapers? I don't knnow... but I don't think I can ignore the fact that i might be retaining any longer... i need to find out for sure.

I'll let you know what I find out... right now, i feel a pain in my bladder, but i went to the toilet a few minutes ago and nothing came out... While yes, this happened before.. it is somewhat annoying.. maybe i jsut need to drink more water?

Peace out!

ROb

Well, the appointment was moved to Oct 14, because I am booked solid through the days they have available for september with sub jobs :D :D...A lot of people might think of subs as glorified babysitters... but that's only true if your'e not doing it right. I may not have a teaching certificate.. but I can do MUCH more than just babysit.

Peace out!

Rob,

I don't understand,...I thought you had a teaching certificate and were subbing because you were for a permanent position to become available. If you don't mine me asking, why not get a teaching certificate so you can seek a permanent position and have a predictable income?

Just trying to understand you situation.

John,

I'm sorry if you got the wrong impression.. but I've never been a certified teacher. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology-Social Services and an associate in social work(hence my username on this board. In the State of Michigan, you can subsitute teach if you have 90 credit hours at a 4 year institution with a C average or better, you have to pass a background check, do training moduels, and if you're not a certified teacher, you pay $45 anually for a teaching permit. I am limited in what I can do; I can take assigments that are less than a week; I can't be a long term substiute; in order to do that, I need to be a certified teacher. This does NOT mean i am not qualifed to subsitute teach. As long as i am proficient i classroom management, and have a basic understanding of the curriculum (which I do), I can be a sub. What I'm waiting for is to land a job as a paraprofessional in the schools. Hope this clears things up for you!

Peace out!

Rob

Rob,

You seem to like working with disabled kids, so why not go back to school and get a teaching certificate so you can teach full time with benefits,...... and if you want,....you could specialize teaching those that are "challenged"? You could still help out at summer camp if you wanted. It just seems like this would be a perfect fit.

Just my thoughts.

Instead of thinking about it why don't you do something about next semester?
