Hey all,

I'd just like to share my expereinces with you over this past summer when it comes to product selection. I'm sure i mentioned this before, but I thought I'd repost it for people who are reading this forum for the first time. I have learned that sticky tape tab diapers, while usually reliable in the fall and winter and spring, don't stick as well in the summer. I have found this to be the case regardless of brand. A+, Abena, and Confi Dry all had hte same sticky tab issues.. which is why next sumemr i plan to use Northshore Care Air supreme exclusively. During adult camp, i ordered a bag of ConfiDry because I was worried that he northshore care woudlnt be absorbent enough. The funny thing is... most of the times that i had a leak where the underwer, onesie or pants got wet.. I was wearing a Confidry! I think the problem stemed from needing a better taping technique to get a good seal at the legs. if i get that, then Confi Dry are hard to beat. Northshore care were less complciated in that regard.. just tug the brief to activate leak guards.. fold in half to get a gutter shape.. apply, and youre good to go. I am EXTREMELY pleased with how well the Northshore care performed.. I never had any clumping issues... I did have some leaks..b ut htey were contaiined by the plastic patns/underwear combo, most of the time. I did not have any incidences where the front of my pants or the side of my leg were soaked.. at most it was a spot. Note to self.. wear dark colored jeans :D

The biggest drawback to Confiy dry is this: once the brief is on, it stays on... if itry to cinch it down to use the toiliet, i risk ripping it. if it gets too full. the plastic backing strectches and tears and leaves a big mess.. SAP crystals everywhere.. I NEVER had this probelm with northsore care..

Peace out!

Rob

Thanks for your report. SAP leakage is exasperating, especially when you have limited time to wash and change.

I think it's "Super Absorbent Particles" - members, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ummm, waffles - my husband said he'll make some tomorrow....

P.S. Love the Hampton Roads area.

Thanks Wetter!! Mind if I stop by for some of those waffles?

PS: Am I the only one who thinks of the Shrek donkey when the word 'waffles' is mentioned?

Any time, Porkchop.

I don't often think Shrek, but when I do... I think of a commercial real estate guy with that name (I swear!) that my office had to deal with.

Stay hungry for waffles, my friend.

Actually, youre close wetters but not quite.. SAP is super absorbent polymer. They are crystals in a diaper that expand to absorb many times their weight. They are what make diapers like abena have such a high capacity. The downside of SAP is that it doesn't distribute wetness to the other parts of the diaper.. which means that disposables need to be changed before all the diaper is used.

Peace out!

And... now I want waffles. Didn't think of Donkey. Went to IHOP on Saturday, had the double dipped French Toast. It was yummy. Might have to go back again soon. Might do that for dinner one of these nights.

RE: OP - I have found that the Northshore Care supremes work really well and can hold a good amount. I go between the northshore and the 24/7 depending on what I am doing. Both work well for me.

The only problem I have had with 24/7 is sometimes they are inconsistant with placement of the tapes on the back side of the diaper and one side is too low on the diaper. This then causes the diaper to not tape correclty.

Thank you rob for your review and sharing your experience
The dry 24/7 although they can hold a lot, are very bulky and now have atrociously horrible tapes.
The plastic on those diapers are super strong so whenever I use them I have to use either packing or duct tape to support them. Also they tend to sag a lot after some use.
The Northshorecare supremes though feel much drier and comfortable (after you fluff them) to wear during the day.
They are also less bulky than the dry 24/7 and quite a bit cheaper. And the tapes have rarely failed on me compared to other diapers

Another option to consider depending on your amount of leakage is using cheaper lower quality diapers and adding a booster pad such as an abri let maxi or the Northshorecare boosters.
