Ok, The Seni Quatro in size large SEEMED to be doing ok fit wise, so I did a test to see wether they could hold up for 6 hours with a pair of boxer briefs and plastic pants and a onesie.. Result? Pants were dry but the underwear was wet. I realize no diaper is perfect and leaks are bound to happen some of the time, but this does make me wonder if the sizing discrepancy is too much. Also, given that I will be in the dishroom and it will be hot in there, it may not be practical to wear 4 layers of clothing (diaper, boxer brief, Plastic pants and onesie) under my pants.. So it looks like I will be using Northshore care or Abena for my breathable option.. JD, do you think I'm overreacting, or am I being prudent? I would like to not have to rely on wearing underpants over the diaper unless its in a situaiton where the weather is cooler..

You are not overreacting. You have a limited time to make a decision about what you will wear and are going about it in a methodical manner.

The sizing discrepancy could account for the leak, as a snug fit at the crotch is the most important factor. However, an increase in hydration could account for it.

Whichever diaper you choose to wear, it is important that you feel confident and secure with it. The other diapers you mention both are good diapers.

Also, recall that I add a small booster pad to my diapers and reinforce the tapes so that I can tape them snugly. The small NorthShore Care booster pad holds 15 oz.! That adds more than an hour between diaper changes.

I wore the Seni plus a booster pad combination last night (under my cloth diaper) for over 10 hours without a leak. I was relatively well hydrated, but not over hydrated. However, there are too many variables to be able to compare our experiences.

Re heat and layers, I would skip the boxers and keep the diaper, plastic pants, and onesie. It helps disperse body heat if your "plastic" pants actually are breathable PUL pants.

Any premium over-night rated diaper and PUL cover pants will be all you need. As John also pointed out adding a booster will make a big difference too.
