I was just wondering how many others out there remember the exact date they began to have to use protection. Reason I ask is on the 6th, it will be 3 years that I began to wear 24/7. Three years since I have wore regular underwear. Three years since I accepted that I needed to swallow my pride so I could stay dry and get back to my life.
What is sad is I also know it was the night of June 30, 2011 that was the very first time I taped a diaper on because of the incontinent episodes I was having.
I was just wondering if I was the only one out there that did this. Kind of like the loss of an old friend.

I don't know the exact date, other than it was sometime late February or early March 2014 that I noticed that the urinary frequency was a bit excessive and the minor leaks that I always seemed to brush off as nothing were getting more frequent and much more noticeable. I started wearing protection from around that time.......I had a few days where I was in denial and didn't wear a diaper and I had accidents......I was too embarrassed to wear protection to the first few doctors appointments......that quickly changed as I realized that I didn't have to dress to impress anybody and that I didn't like the feeling of having wet pants.......

Honestly, if you are seeing the doctor for incontnince, I think they would almost EXPECT you to be wearing some sort of protection... that would be the smart thing to do.. Or at least one WOULD think.. I've read stories on this board of urologists questioning why someone was wearing proteciton.. we NEED NEED NEED to get RID of stigma surrounding the use of absorbent products ONCE and for ALL... Like you, i would MUCH rather be confortable in a diaper than to put up with wet underwear.. I did that for TOO long.. NO MORE!
Peace out!

Hi Rope,
It's been 7 or 8 years now, so I don't remember any more. It's just part of my life.

The first time I decided I was confident about wearing protection I went to a urologist appointment and when I pulled my pants down, he asked "why are you wearing THAT!!!!???" What an asshole.....I only went there one more time.......

PB&J32, sounds very much like the first continence nurse I went to talk to. When she asked me history and all the like, and what I was doing to deal with it, I was kinda surprised when she asked why I would be wearing a diaper at night!

Wow, I was speechless, but not something you see a 27 yr old admit to every day. You would think that they could include some
Sensitivity Training when they go through school. Had a similar thing happen when I first talked to my doc, his response shut me down from getting help for years, that jerk is gone now, and my new Doc is far more supportive in these matters, thankfully, as well as my continence nurse friend. Hard to believe it has been over 20 years since my first episode, but I just keep on truck'in, nothing else to do!

Don't remember the exact day, because it started out just have little accidents after going, but do remember the month and year when it got bad enough where I broke down and called the doctor. Luckily, the first nurse I talked to mention buying guards till I could see the doctor. She was a Godsend as she assured me for my age there are plenty of other people that have bladder issues. As for the doctors, I have had some good ones and one just down right rude.

I remember the month and year. But what I really remember was "where". I was driving from LA to Sacramento and stopped at a well known/traveled rest stop for food and a bathroom run; then it was back on the road again. After about 10 minutes, the leaking started; at first a little dribble. But as the pressure built, more was coming out. My pants were really getting soaked. Thankfully I found a medical supply house and was able to get some decent pull ups. Then the doctors, testing, embarrassments, worsening, trials & errors, etc. It's all just "history" now ... 95% of the time, I don't give "using a diaper" a 2nd thought. Life is good and dry!

Like you, I remember the year and about what month it was I had my first full blown wetting accident. It was fall of 2009. I was at work directing traffic at a car wreck and I totally wet myself while out there. I felt it coming on but because I was in a position where I could not leave, I was stuck. I had been having leaking issues and dribbling bfor that but it was something I was in denial about and said nothing to my own doctor.
What was sad is it took two more accidents before I had the courage to see my doctor about it.

My sudden-onset daytime urge incon started in the Fall of 1975 - I was 24, and I've never had kids or even been pregnant. One Saturday morning, I was in my husband's and my apartment, making the bed (he was at school), when my bladder suddenly started to spasm and squirt urine. I didn't want to leave a pee trail on the rug as I got to the bathroom, so I hopped up on our bed and stuffed handfuls of the bedspread under me. When the spasms and squirting stopped (about 12 seconds in total, but it felt like 20 minutes), I went into the bathroom, stripped off my wet panties and jeans, and made an attempt to void any residual urine that may have been left in my bladder. After I cleaned myself up and put on clean clothes, I bundled up the wet clothes, the bedspread, washcloth and towel and went downstairs to the laundry room. I washed and dried everything, put away my clothes, and made up the bed. I never told my husband or anyone else what had happened, until I told someone on this forum privately about a year and a half ago. My bedwetting returned about a year later, after I had been dry for 11 years.
