Sigh.. between Wellness disintergrating and Tena slip having issues ill explain in a minute, I just cant win..and im actually thinking about trying cloth for casual extended wear under overalls..
What happen you may ask? Well, it seems the past few times i changed out of Tena slip.. i noticed SAP crystals on my area down there.. and I wasn't sure what to make of it.. and disnt make a big deal deal out of it.. until tongiht... My aunt and uncle were staying at my parent's house while they were out of town, and they invited me down.. Since I can never predict when I have an episode.. i opted for Tena slip since i couldnt pull off a change discreetly.. anyway.. it ended up not being used until after i got home. When I took it off i again noticed sap crystals and noted that once again.. it seemed that stuffing was leaking out of the diaper... it looks likea hole right in the topsheet where the leak guards are.. I noticed tat on a few the leak guards semed a bit iffy and not sure if they were going t stay on.. It didnt leak or anything..but im not sure i want to wear Tena Slip...Wellness does a decent job. and since I had that second issue of them falling apart, nothing have happend since.. I wonder..would Molicare be worht a try? Is the Super trim fitting under clothing? Maybe i should try out hte US made Tena Super... wonder how they would be thickness wise.. I rember trying them out years ago but never actually using them.. comments and feedback would be a ppreciated

Have you tried the Abeba Abriform Level 3 or Level 4? I've been wearing them full time for several years and swear by them. Very occasionally, I've had problems with tapes or with pinhole leaks. Once, I even had the topsheet tear in back. But over 99% of the time they are reliable. I occasionally try something else, but I keep coming back to Abena because I can trust them to keep my pants and bed dry.

Yes, I have tried abena both M3 and M4... however, it was always samples, never a bag or a case.. perhaps i should give the M3 a try to see if they meet what im looking for... its been a long time since i had a sample... i guess people's needs change over time.. Incon misss, what do you wear under dress clothes? Do you find the M3 discreet enough? That's the main thing im looking for with that.

Can anyone confirm that Delta form does indeed have velcro tabs? If so, i might give those a shot as well..

Peace,

Rob

Rob, I occasionally have encountered SAP crystals in a wide variety of diapers, including the Tena Slip Maxi, but usually that is a freak occurrence and is not normal to any one brand of diaper.

Re discreet wearing, are you talking about diapers to be worn with dress trousers for work or casual use with jeans? For Dockers or more formal wear, I prefer the Tena Slip Maxi. With jeans I can get away with wearing just about any diaper, including Abena Level 3 or even ConfiDry 24/7! Abena L4 is a bit too much for me. However, I usually wear a silencer that contains spandex to smooth out any bulges while providing support to the diaper. Of course, that is over a pair of plastic pants.

Sorry to hear the troubles with the TSM. You may have gotten a bad batch. The only issue I have had with them is minor pinhole leaking in the crotch area; this only happens with some of the bags I have. I'm guessing only some of the cases were from a bad batch, but I stocked up on 6 cases and have no idea which are the 'bad' ones until I open a bag. The contents of the bag are consistent--all good or all with the flaw. If you ordered a case or even a bag and they are all flawed, I would contact the seller for an exchange with a different lot #.

The Delta form, as of about a year ago (last time I ordered) do have velcro tapes. I recall them being mostly velcro with a few lines of adhesive. The adhesive loses its stick with a few refastenings, but the velcro holds up fine. Contact Gary at XPMedical to confirm that what he is shipping currently still has the velcro tapes.

The U.S. Tena Super is about as thick as a Tena Slip Maxi when dry. The Maxi will swell more when wet and is ultimately more absorbent, but the Super is still quite good. Haven't run into any manufacturing issues with these yet.

I might add that when I found SAP crystals on different occasions while wearing one brand of diaper, I eventually traced the problem back to my having taped the bottom tapes too tight, not leaving enough room for expansion. In my attempt to tape snugly in order to contain fecal odor, I had caused another problem. I since have learned that, for some diapers, there is a fine line between taping too loosely and taping too tight.

Update on this.. I discovered that the leaking stuffing issue was actually due to the topsheet separating easily when the seam on the leak guard was pulled just a little bit.. honestly.. shourldnt a diaper be more durable than that?? I emailed Gary, and he's willing to give me an exchange..and asked if clothback diapers are fine..i told him i dont mind clothback as long as they are as slim fitting as the tena slip.. Haven't heard back from him.. as of right now.. i don't have a vialble extended wear option.. I ran out of wellness.. best I can do is boost Attends brethable extra absorbent..

My experience with Tena Maxi slip and Abena M4, is that the Tena does an ok job, but can't hold much, somehow it just cant make use of all the absorbant material in the daiper.

I tried the Abena M4 last summer, for a vacation, and my wife was complaining from day one, about the smell of wet diaper. I didn't think it was that obvious, but anyhow she asked me whether I had changed brand (and was subsequently asking me to go change) and this was only after a couple of hours in it.

Normally I use Molicare super Plus during the day - great capacity and odor protection.

NTAM,

Thanks so much for your input..yeah, now that it seems i might be back in diapers for the near future, if not for good(I don't like that idea, but must concede it to be a very real possibility), odor control for sure is a concern. Wellness advertised itself as having good odor control.. after wearing one all day and multiple wettings in one. i could tell there was a slight odor..and frankly was embarrased a bit.. but then agian, i had a booster in the diaper as well..perhaps that offset the odor control feature of the diaper? I think that any diaper, no matter how good odor control is will eventually smell if worn long enough.since urine sitting in the diaper eventually breaks down and turns to ammonia..

I don't think Molicare super plus would be discreet enough for me to wear while teaching...but for casual extended wear, based on what you say about odor control, i think I might give them a try :) Thankfully, the only diapers i have to buy out of pocket are extended wear diapers that i can wear for long periods without changing.. the ordinary day use diaper..that is, attends breathable.. is covered by Medicaid. I get a case of those plus 1 bag per month.. definetly helps cut down on management costs :)
