I have been fighting a rash for the past for about a month and I finally think I'm getting a handle on things. It started out as a heat type rash and developed into a yeast type rash. I have been lucky and the past three years I have only had one other rash and it cleared up with n about tow or three days. Where I messed up was first not recognizing it had become a yeast rash and the stopping the antifungal treatment too soon. Also I had a friend sing the praises of cornstarch and I gave that a try. I learned after being forced to see my primary doctor that cornstarch is great for comfort but will feed a yeast rash and make things much worse. Moral of the story, pay attention to your body and practice preventative measures to keep rashes away. I can only hope that I cot my cloth diapers clean enough to use agaoin with out reinfecting myself. |

Persistent rash can be a bear for us. It can cause intense itching, which makes functioning in public difficult. I suggest Clorox as a way to kill any offending fungal spores in your diapers. Good luck. |

Thanks Patrick, As for my cloth diapers, I have been scouring the internet for the best way to clean them to make sure I don't reinfect myself. What I ended up doing, was to wash them as normal. Then I began the stripping process which was to wash them again but with a little bit of Dawn dish detergent and washed with water as hot as I could get. I ended up dumping three pots of boiling water in to the washer. Then washed again but with a half a cup of bleach and again the three pots of boiling water was added. Then rinced about three or four time to make sure it was all out. I hope that got it all but time will tell once I can use them again. |

It did not respond to typical treatments, and got red and kind of blotchy. Also the fact I had to go to my GP and she said it looked like a classic case. It had gotten very itchy and a bad burning feeling. Only other way to describe the discomfort is like poison ivy down there. Just I did not have the blisters like with poison ivy. |

I hope the extra attention you paid to yoour diaper laundry will pay off, and that the prescription cream will do its duty. |

I've gotten that sort of rash before. First time was on college, and it wasn't diaper related, it was related to working a job with polyester shorts. They chafed, and I only had 2 pair, so they didn't get washed every time. I was embarrassed, and didn't go to the doctor, and it got BAD. I tried diaper rash creams, jock itch creams, athletes foot creams, peroxide, rubbing alcohol ... nothing worked. I finally went to the doctor when I could hardly walk, and he gave me a steroid cream that cleared it up in a few days. When I started wearing diapers again a few years ago, I got a similar rash. I showed my doctor, told him about the cream I'd had in the past, he prescribed a steroid and antifungal. |
