well, my friends, it is day 4 of the antibiotic treatemnt.. still no change in
symtoms.. still dribble and flood.. diapers are a necessity, obviously. The biggest hassle is changing at work. up until last night i went out to my car on break, put on a coat, put a dry diaper under the coat, came in to the store, change in the family restroom, and no oens the wiser.. but last night. i forgot my coat...and wouldnt you know it.. i was wetting right on my way out the door... here i was all distraught about having to bring my bag into the store to the employee breakroom.. i went to the restroom, changed and punched in just in the nick of time..acutally the brief wasnt that wet.. now heres were things get itneresting. Now that my bag was sitting in the breakroom with all hte other eemployees having their lunch, how was i going to get my bag and go change.. without someone seeing me? I probably could have picked up the bag, went to the bathroom and did what was needed without anyonre asking..but i guess im overly paranoid.. so i was real slick.. i slid my bag over to the corner by a pop machine, out of line of sight of everyone in the break room.. behind my back going just by feel i pull a diaper out of the bag, put in a plastic bag. and tuck that into the back of my shirt.. and facing the door back out so no one can see the back.. maybe not the most subtle.. but it worked.. no one said anything..

Ok, im now at the point of realizing i need either an extended wear diaper, or some way to boost my current diaper (im using attends breathable at the moment.) It's been a few years since ive worn, so can anyone tell me if any changes in sizing have occoured with Abena, or Dry 24/7? I see that Tena Slip Maxi is quite trim fitting, any one try that? Im not giving up on the antibiotic..but i want to get better padding to change less frequently. I checked the local pharmacies for booster pads.. no luck.. does anyone know what sort of pharmacy your more likely to find booster pads???

Hi Sociologygeek ... sorry to hear of your recurrence. But I had to laugh at your stealth. Way cool!

To answer your questions: I haven't found any changes in sizing with the Abenas or the Dry24/7. Dry24/7 just recently restarted producing and shipping again. But they appear to be sized the same as before they stopped production. The Tena Slips are phenomenal; and they are also a bit pricey. Another alternative is XP Medical's own line: Absorbancy Plus. They are very good and far less expensive than other high cap diapers. Their drawback is lack of leg cuffs (rough for us flooders), tapes can only be fastened "once" (actually, if you are careful, you can get 2-3 refastenings; but not guaranteed), and they can be "noisy".

Hope this helps.

Sociologygeek,

My mainstay daily diapers are the Tena Slip Maxi and the Abena Abri-Form X-Plus Level 4. I also wear XPMed's A Plus diaper.

For wear to work your best bet is the Tena Slip Maxi as it is high capacity (about 3 liters) but also relatively thin and discreet. A new diaper for a change also takes up little space in a backpack or briefcase.

For wear at home the Abena Abri-Form X-Plus Level 4 is a good bet. For a disposable, it also is good for night wear. The maximum total capacity is around 85 ounces. It is, however, a thick diaper. I can wear it out of the home under black jeans for casual occasions, but many report that they cannot.

The supply of the Dry 24/7 is unreliable at this point and so I would not recommend it.

I wear XPMed's A Plus diaper at home only because of the absence of internal leak guards. As I am bowel incontinent that is a serious concern for me. However, it is a very good diaper for its price and excellent for urinary incontinence.

I obtain most of my diapers from Gary's XP Medical. He provides excellent advice and is very price-competitive.

Good luck,
--John

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah, i was considering A+ too.. the price is hard to beat. You raise a good point JD about Dry 24/7 not being reliable in terms of availability. If tena slip maxi are cut the same way as Tena Ultra are, i dont need to to worry. Oh, and yes, i know how awesome XP Medical is. :) They beat HDIS hands down in terms of going out of their way to satisfy customers. for example, HDIS sent my order to the wrong address! My order went to my grandma's house up the road.. the customer service rep's defense was "well the boxes are discreet" That well may be.. but, given how old my grandma is, there ist the possiblilty shes seen an HDIS commercial and reconized the label. I forgave em for that, it happened once..and later on when i decided to start using breifs, i ordered their brief variety pack. XP medical has been top notch. I have never actually ordred a case of diapers from them. But i have ordered sample packs. They arrive quickly. As I mentioned before.. when they sent the wrong size swim diaper, they corrected it promptly, and when I wanted to sample the delta form, i mentioned that to Gary, without outright asking him to send me a sample. Imagine my suprise when in the mail I recieved free of charge 1 delta form brief! That convinced me right then and there that were i not at the time relying on insurance provided diapers via J and B medical id be using xp medical exculsively.

Thanks ILuvLA, i did feel pretty Bond-ish, or like Ethan Hunt..or for those of you who have played computer games.. Sam Fisher of Splinter Cell. After some debate with myself, i went ahead and ordered samples of the aforementioned diapers from xp.. the main debate was whether to just sample them or to buy a bagful of one or the other, rationale behind the bag being i needed extended wear at work all week long..but then i realized that if a particular diaper doesnt work for me, im stuck with a whole bagfull and potentially wasted money, especially with the dry 24/7 or the tena slip.. thust i toook the middle road, figuring that id have enough extended wear to get me through the week..although one of them, the absorbency plus level 3 isnt exactly extended wear..but i wanted to give them a try too... ill post what i think of them when i get them.. shouldnt be too much of a delay..correct me if im wrong, but XP has a warehouse in MI, which is where i am from...which is why i felt confident that it would get here quick even if i didnt go with 2nd day air shipping..all for now.

Peace out!
