Matthewmeto, it's simple; diapers helped with my urinary frequency by ensuring I didn't end up with wet pants every hour or so. Sure diapers did noting for the frequency its self, but they have helped me manage it better than any other option out there.

I think I get what you are saying. I am not entirely sure though. I'm not sure if I could do that if I'm correct, though it would probably be very freeing if I did. Glad you were able to find a solution, though!

I would suggest you try it Mathewmeto. Maybe just for a day or two, perhaps over a weekend. See what you think of it. At first, it's counter-intuitive to everything we've been taught, but if you think of it as another option... For me, it became very freeing to have that option, whether I actually used it regularly or not. Diapers made it so much easier for me to live a normal life, without running to the bathroom all the time. Good quality diapers should be your first attempt, otherwise you will end up with wet pants very quickly and that will be exactly what your are trying to avoid. So get some top-flight diapers- just a pack- and give it a go.

Thank you for your advice. I have Abena M4's and I decided to give it a try to help out over the past couple of days. Its super counter-intuitive, but at the same time, very helpful. It is kind of a strange feeling, and hard to describe whats going on in my head attempting it. I want to say its a sort of cognitive dissonance, while its helpful, its hard to accept myself doing it. It also requires public changing and having to carry stuff, which is uncharted territory for me.

I don't know how long I'll stick it out for. I had to deal with an insurance switcharoo since my insurance's healthcare facilities have closed, so I have to start with yet another GP and get the process rolling again.

Again, thanks for the advice.

Matthewmeto, for carrying around the supplies most of us have found it's best to keep a small bag, backpack, or briefcase in our car. Keep at least two diapers in it, and whatever other supplies you will need. Most of us are usually not too far from our cars so it makes a good place for keeping them always on hand.

Generally for quick changes during the day you won't need any creams or powders unless you're battling a rash at that time. Do keep a couple of safety pins with your diapers though. They come in real handy if/when you have stubborn tapes that won't stay put but haven't used your diaper too much yet.

For disposal just roll up the old diaper and toss it in the trash. If you're concerned about it giving off a bad smell, or otherwise want to keep a very low profile for what you're tossing out, then keep a few plastic grocery bags with you too. Put the used diaper in the bag, squeeze the air out of it, and roll/twist it closed. The bag doesn't need to be perfectly air tight, but it will conceal the look and any smells of the diaper until the trash gets tossed out. Honestly though, I've found all of this isn't really necessary beyond giving you some extra piece of mind.

Brian is right having a small supply of diapers in a back pack works our great, I use 2 backpacks

1 with just a few diapers and some wipes (just in case)

1 with 4 diapers, change of pants, shirt, socks, wipes & Cream

Most times I just grab the small packpack if I need to change or to Carry with me if I will be in the mall for an Extended time since I started to wear underwear and plastic pants over my diaper any small leaks have been absorbed by the under wear and the plastic pants kept it from my pants

I use a small fannypack when I need something minimal and discreet - just one diaper, some wipes in a zip lock bag, and a disposal bag. Someone seeing me wearing it when going into the restroom may think that I am a nerd but not that I am wearing a diaper. Usually however, I use a small backpack with two diapers and all of the essentials. Then in the car I keep my "disaster kit" with another diaper, wipes, disposal bags, etc., a sheet of plastic to protect the car seat, and a complete change of clothes - just in case. :D

I'm with you John, I have a backpack that looks like I'm going camping for a month. But there is one thing I have everything to cover a major mess and medication that I need to keep going. Better to have to much then not enough. Mike

Me too, my back pack looks like I'm going off grid in the boonies but they just chalk it up to another paranoid veteran who is overly prepared. LOL!!
