Hey all,

The A&A pocket diapers continue to do well, but I think i need to branch out and try other diaper types and see if they do work for me or not. To that end, I have committed to a mini-splurge on Adult Cloth diaper. I was going to buy an AIO but they are currently out of stock. And my experimentation with my fleecce blanket leaves some doubt as to whether flat diapers are practical. So, I ended up going with a countour diaper, a daytime gauze prefold, the high back plastic pants, and the leakmaster deluxe plastic pants.

I will let you know how it all works out. ACD does have a return policiy where if i dont wash or wear a diaper, that is have it actually touch my skin down there.. I can return it if I think it doesnt fit. Good to know eh?
Oh, and i went with both the jumbo size pins as well as the regular pins.

Peace out!

Rob

The only concern I had with contour diapers was the thickness. If a diaper gets too bulky, it becomes difficult to get it clean and fresh. The other problem is drying time. Really thick diapers take forever to dry. Contour diapers worked great for me though. Cost is what sold me on flats. It took a while to figure out how to fold to fit me, but once I did the price sold me. You'll probably like the contours. Especially if you're used to disposables.

The Leakmaster Deluxe Pants. They are perfect for night time. Those are some HEAVY DUTY badboys. Industrial Strength even. You'll have to work hard to wear those out! I bought a couple pairs and can say that they are without a doubt the most bullet proof plastic pant I've ever seen. They have the plastic folded over the elastic. A lot of people like that as it stops any chance of wicking. For me it's not as comfortable sometimes (not a big deal though). Covering the elastic also weakens the grip of the elastic around your body. If you are used to a really tight elastic around your waist and legs, you'll find that the leakmasters elastic doesn't grip your body as tightly. Being used to the older style of elastic I sometimes feel like they aren't sealing up right. They must be though as they never leak. ....and that's the whole purpose. Ted

It is very easy to get discouraged after the pocket diaper you were trying. Good old cloth against your skin is still the best. I have to wear disposable during the day because of convenience at work. If I had my choice it would be cloth all the way. The learning curve is a little longer but well worth it.

Hi everyone, My daytime troubles only started a few months ago. I've been reluctant to go with disposables but have to admit they are really convenient. What I've noticed is cloth if far more comfortable for me. But there's a catch. If cloth is worn without enough thickness it's miserable when wet even if it isn't leaking. Cloth carries away wetness really well as long as it isn't saturated. Also a full blown wetting accident is absorbed instantly. If the cloth is thick enough the only sensation is my bladder letting go. I can't even feel the diaper getting wet. I used to wonder if I was even having an accident. I've noticed that disposables can't absorb nearly as fast as cloth when the cloth is sufficiently thick. I've found that there's no need for a liner to keep wetness off your skin with cloth either. If cloth feels wet then it's time to change the diaper. Oh yeah, I use gauze diapers. Gauze is without a doubt the fastest absorbing, softest cloth there is. To me, the next best is birdseye and then flannel. Unfortunately gauze is also the most fragile. That said they still last about 4 years. Flannel is almost bullet proof they'll go six or eight years.

Here's the problem. To be really secure you need enough capacity to avoid saturation. If you have light incontinence there's not problem with a light diaper. I you have larger accidents then the diaper will need to be pretty bulky. Bulky enough to where it might be noticeable.

I've found cloth absolutely the best way to go at night. The needed bulk is not an issue then. I let go completely while sound asleep and things can get really wet. Cloth diapers have saved to day (night?) for me. For me the comfort level is way better than disposables, especially at night. Many times I have to check the diaper when I wake to tell if it's even wet.

Remember, this is only my opinion. Ted

Mlhjr,

Let me be clear. I am NOT discouraged with the pocket diapers. Overall they have done well for me. They are fairly easy to put on, easy to wash, and are absorbent enough to hold wettings for half a day before changing. That is what i expect out of a diaper. The only issue is the seam issue.. which, after talking to m mom is a non issue.. she has been sewing for a long time and told me that the seam pops shoudlnt pose a problem. Its not a problem with the product itself so much as it is a matter of cost and the amount of time it takes to get an order.

So, I'm hoping I find a solution that is cost effctive.
