Rob,
I agree that it is usually best to change when wet whenever possible. However, with some types of incontinence, that is not practical alwayas. For myself, I have encountered situations where both dropping everytthing I was doing to go pee in the toilet and changing as soon as I got wet were both impractical. When i was working at walmart and was dealing with incon, I was wearing Attends breathable Extra absorbernt, and was trying to make it to the toilet whenever i felt the urge. Eventually it got to the point where it was disrupting my productivity. For the sake of keeping my job, I decided to start wearing and using premium diapers, and not even worry about peeing in the toilet. Since i started doing that during work, my stress has been much more reduced. I no longer work at Walmart, but I still use the same procedures when I am working. Things will probably get interesting when i subsitut teach, as I may not always know where I can find a private place to change. Also, when I am with students, I cannot leave the classroom without being relieved by another adult. In that case, extended wear and using the brief rather than the toilet become necessary.
So there you have it; even in cases where one does not have heavy to complete loss of control, at times it is still necessary to use and rely on diapers rather than try to make it to the toilet. I hope this will help someone come to terms with needing to use protection. You are not alone. Do what is necessary to maintain your life without interruption.
Peace out!
Rob
