Took the plunge.. ordered me a pocket diaper

Sun Oct 04, 2015 8:36 pm

Hey all..

Just thought id like you all to know that i decided to go ahead and order 1 pocket diaper with a 3 insert bundle pack which will be 4 inserts. That will allow me to try out the product and see whether it would be a feasible replacement for my work diapers and as an alternative to Tena ultra for out of the house casual diapers. Unless Attends improves their products and makes them avialable to me via medicaid, I either have to buy out of teh house standard diapers out of pocket along with my extedned wear/work disposables, or I wear cloth...

I expect to get the diaper in 2-3 weeks. When it arrives, and I have had a chacne to wear and use it and see how it works, i will post a review.
I'm glad I found these when I did, because I was so set on using the gauze flats from adult cloth diaper... these would work much better... i could change them standing up just like a disposable... No pinning, no folding.. just stuff the insert or inserts, and TOTALLY customize and control how absorbent the diaper is.. snap it on and GO!

Peace out!

Rob

How much did the set up for one diaper, including whatever plastic pants you wore with it, set you back?

Porkchop,

You don't need PP with this, because it's made of PUL. 1 diaper plus 3 inserts plus shipping came to 91 dollars. Yes, its steep, but I thourogly researched the product as well as was in direct contact with the person who makes them, and I was satisfied i had enough information to make a choice.

Peace out!

Pocket diaper is offically on the way today

Hi all,

I just recieved word last night that at long last, my order is done, and ready to be shipped. I expect to recieve it on thursday. The maker of these showed me a picture of a diaper that looks just like mine except for different colored snaps, and I really like the design. It looks like a star cluster with plantets and nebulae.. Schoppy, you would appreciate that design, seeing as how you love astronomy. Assuming I find that the pocket diaper meets my needs, I figured out that if i bought 3 per month, i would have enough by the time i left next June in order to rotate them somewhat, which is ideal with cloth diapering; you don't want to buy one or two or 3 and wash and use them every day, they will wear out a lot quicker than if you buy a few dozen, and rotate the ones you wash and use. At any rate, if i plan this out right, i can reduce the amount of premium disposables i would need this summer by at least a quarter, if not half. Which would be goood, because last summer I spend upwards of 120 to 150 at one point..at minumum it was 90 dollars of a case of Northshore care. Wheras if i used cloth, I would cut down on the total number of disposables over the summer. The tricky part will be washing them. I've heard the longest you want to go without washing cloth diapers is 4 days. After that, your house starts to smell like urine. For those that use cloth, how often do you wash? I wonder if the 4 day limit would hold if i used a sealed pail for the diapers. The tricky part is that with my busy schedlule, i don't know if i would have time. I think I might be able to figure out a schedule. the best part is, once i have my stash of 24 diapers, they will last a long time, several years if i rotate them. That means over time, they would pay for themselves, and I would decrease the amout of money I spend on disposables. I jsut have to get the washing routine down and I'm all set.

Anyway, when the pocket diaper arrives, i will let you all know what I think. Until then, stay tuned! I'm really looking forward to trying it.

Peace out!

Rob

Rob,

Welcome to the ranks of cloth diapers users. You will need a hamper with a lid that holds the same amount as your washer. I wash mine every couple days; a squirt or two of Clorox pre-wash takes good care of odor. If your washer has an extended cycle, hot water wash setting, use it. Good luck.

Well, the cloth diaper arrived today, one day earlier than expected :D. I opened the package to find 1 cloth diaper and 4 inserts. the insert looked thinner than I htought it would, but hey, im not going to judge a book by its cover. the true test will be to see how much it holds with interts and what not. with 4 hinserts, the core looks pretty thick, so I'm thinking this has enough absorbency. Per the instructions included with the diaper, i put it in the dryer for 30 minutes to help seal the PUL to the stitches. when I have a chance to put on and test the diaper, i will report back. Right now, I can say that the galaxy print looks awesome!

Peace out!

Well, i have the diaper on with 4 inserts.. and it has taken several small wettings with ease.. no leaks :) The good news is, in tems of bulk, it is comproable to a boosted northsore care brief.. of course, i can choose how thick or thin the diaper is by the amout of inserts i use. So far, i am satified with my purchase. I will report bakc when i have tested it in more sitauations.

Peace out!
