Mentally and physically?

OK.. second visit with urologist.. told her mybetric doesnt seem to have any palpaple effect..im goin off..and basically she and I in so many words came to the conclusion of living with this.. as is.. biofeedback helped.. but did not prevent it from reoccuring.. and i asked her if there was a way to tell stress from uge incon..and she said yes.. go to U of M.. well as we all know.. I've been there.. done that.. got the T-shirt :p.. U of M told me that basically i wasn't emptying fully, the urologist there suspected my medication catapers.. went off tha.. and did pelvic relaxation therapy.. which lastted for 4 years.. and now im back to where i was before.. I am going off the Myrbetriq.. constipation can make things worse.. so i will try to keep my bowels regular..
So, this is IT ladies and gentlemen, I, Rob, aka Sociologygeek have fought the good fight and tried to get back in and stay in regular underwear, but now I join the ranks of the chronically lifelong incontinent folk.. I will see the urologist again to check for kidney stones, and to make sure im not retaining, or urine is backing up into the kidneys.. Beyond that.. I'm set... if my bladder leaks.. so be it.. i have plenty of diapers by medicaid... enough is enough..
I'm honestly ok with this.. there are worse things to deal with trust me.. and i don't have to cath..knock on wood.. and if i have to.. then i have to..but i willl cross that bridge when it comes to it.. I honestly thing cathing would be a bigger cramp in my style than diapers..truth be told..having to stop what im doing every 2 hours to stick a tube up my deriere..um.. no thank you..versus changing every 4 hours or so with high cap diapers...
Peace out!!
Rob

Good for you, sociologygeek - I'm happy to hear that you're putting this to rest once and for all. I think you'll be much more relaxed and open to enjoying life to the fullest. Best wishes. I as well have stopped agonizing about it and am moving on with my life. Very liberating.

SG: I too am happy to hear that you are moving on and living life ... It is a freer feeling than being manacled by a ball and chain to the nearest commode! Enjoy your life!

You have certainly been through the mill it must be a relief that you have settled on a path. I do hope like me that wearing diapers will open new doors that were once shut to you.

Rob, You seem to be reaching the point of acceptance where you can settle down and lead a comfortable life. That's the poiont where you realize that incontinence is not a very serious disability. Diapers permit us to go anywhere, do anything and live normally. That kind of acceptance is the goal for all of us for whom the restoration of continence isn't going to happen.

Good for you, Rob.
I find myself thinking of that Mel Gibson line for Lethal Weapon 2, "I just learned when to not give a f@&k". Something kind of freeing in that.....

Rob, from reading your post you have done a lot to combat your problems. I know this site has helped me cope and learn how to deal with this issue from dressing/concealing and over all emotional support.
To quote something you said to me in another post "If you were dealing with something other than incontinence, say, diabetes, or epilepsy... would you have the same concerns about him thinking differently about you? Or what if you incontinence was due to the fact you had prostate cancer, and had to have a prostectomy? I doubt he would think of you differently. I think when we deal with things like this, we make it a bigger deal than it has to be." This got me to thinking and came to the conclusion wearing protection is no different than having to wear some other type of medical device. You may not want other people to know about the device, but you have to wear it to function.
Best of luck and look forward to yours and everyone else's words of wisdom. Bruce
