Buying Diapers in the Philippines

My wife and I just returned from a month in the Philippines visiting our daughter and family in Manila. Almost all the newer grocery stores in the Philippines carry some diapers for adults. Some of the stores are Robinson's Supermarket and SM Hypermart. Many of the stores have some high quality super absorbent diapers, much better than what we can buy in any retail store here in the US. Two photos show the diapers available in two stores. The Caress brand is very good quality. They make a "daytime" and an "Overnight" version. The overnight is very good and almost as absorbent as the Seni Super. It is a cloth backed diaper with elastic waist band and leak guards. It has a plastic landing zone for the tapes that can be refastened several times.

I was also very glad to find the Tena Maxi Slip, also in a grocery store. The one that my wife and I got a real laugh from is the Dr. P. It is a plastic backed diaper with leak guards and elastic. It has pretty good absorbancy. A bit hot with the plastic in the 88 to 90 degree heat with no air conditioning! The Hy Pants are a pull-up, just not very absorbent, but very soft.

The amazing thing is these diapers were priced between $6 to $8 US dollars per package with 10 or 11 diapers per package. All were under $1.00 per diaper, even for the super absorbent overnight versions.

Howdy Texan

It sounds like you had a great trip. :D
Thank-you for posting about your experiences and the photos.
It just goes to show people that there are diapers all around the world and not to be afraid to travel.
