Post subject: | Routine testing |
I haven’t posted in a while. Some of you will remember me I use a Foley catheter and have for the last five year with great success. I find them to be a lot more comfortable then briefs or pads. But considering I have retention briefs is not going to help with keeping my bladder empty so the Foley catheter nessacery. I been using the Duette catheter and I find it superior to the conventional Foley for comfort and I believe it helps with UTI's which I have not had one in four years now. But it is my time for a complete checkup. My urologist wants to scope me do a sonogram blood work kidney test and so on. This is to make shore everything is OK. As one knows or should know if he or she is using a Foley they are not without risk. Indwelling catheters can cause bladder and kidney stones and a possibility of cancer and early detection is the best thing to do. My urologist runs this testing every year or two. People that use a Foley should have the same test every year or so to prevent later problems. I am interested in the results after I am scoped. I want to see if the Duette catheter is that much better than the conventional Foley. My last scoping was good for a Foley user there was some erosion where the tip of the catheter was rubbing and where it was sitting in the bottom of the bladder. We will see in a couple of week just how good the Duette is. From one that is using a Foley catheter 24/7 I do fine the Duette duel balloon catheter to be so much more comfortable than other catheters. Lyle |
