has anyone got an opinion of Sani Pants I think that's how you spell it? They look pretty heavy duty? Maybe more of an institution type of plastic pant. An area drug store sells them I was told they were going to be going on sale?

Any thoughts on the subject??...........................Sandy

I had several pair back in high school. I remember that they were an institution grade nylon pant with a snap in liner. Never liked them as they offered light protection at best by day and were absolutely worthless at night. The snap in liner would shift to one side or the other and leaks were garanteed.

These are just a pullup pant to go over your diaper no snap in insert?

I've had this brand in the past. I think made by the Salk Company.

Available at some home health stores, medical supply places, etc.

Fabric (nylon or rayon) outer cover, rubberized/plasticized inner side.

A little heavy to wear, came with or without snaps on sides, liner was

and option and useless. They did tend to hold odor if the leg bands

or outside got wet. Odor retained even after washing, more so than

with vinyl or plastic pants that were simply cleaned with a damp cloth.


Personally, I found the fabric covered elastic leg bands fit well, but

really wicked any diaper wetness right out onto clothing...something

a good fitting pair of vinyl or rubber pants are worn to PREVENT.


But, with any product, just try them for yourself. Some like them,

other people will not. Ultimately, YOU are the judge and YOU will do

the "trial and error" thing.

I tried the Sanipant pull-on several years ago. The fit was OK but they were heavy to wear. They did tend to wick a little more at the leggings but my biggest complaint was they did not last. The waterproof lining would dry out and develop cracks or separate from the outer nylon cover after fewer washings than you would think. They are locally available in many pharmacies and home healthcare stores.

I found that if I don't wash my plastic pants in the machine they last longer in general. What I do is the old collage trick as I call it. When I was Collage age and had no money for laundry. I'd take and throw my cloths in the tub with me and take a shower over them kicking them around as I washed myself. Pert Shampoo takes out a lot of stains and smells I still do that today with my plastic pants. About the time your done showering pick up the items rinse them out and hang them up in the tub to dry

Wow Sandy, when I tried plastic pants, that is what I would do, take a shower with them in order to clean them and me. I didn't know anyone else did this.

As to washing clothes while in the shower, I did that lots when I was a boy scout and in the service as well. Saves water and gets two things done at one time.

I guess Sani-Pants were one of the original "Incontinent Pants". It was the first pair I bought many years ago. Best I can remember was that the inside was sort of rubberized. They did not last long. Even if they were available for $5.00 each, I wouldn't buy them again.
I think they were originally for the ocasional bedwetters. ....Paul Martin
