Doctor Sandy has some good advice, but here's my advise on medical test. Once you've been to your uroligist, and he acknoledges you have a real problem, he's going to want to put you through all these test to rule out different problems. Once you've gone through the test, I don't see a need to take the same test over and over.
I've been incontient for over 10 years now, and I see my urologist on an annual basis to make sure my bladder is doing OK. I'll get the sad face from him after I tell my symtoms have not changed, but I told my Doc,It's OK, I use to wearing diapers, I can handle it, It's not the end of the world. So he just agrees and appreciates me being honest. It's his job to find a way to help me, but if it's not an easy magical trick, I'll just stay in diapers until whenever. Just my two cents worth!! ......Paul Martin

I don't enjoy this Sandy. I'm doing what I'm told by my doctor.. they didn't run a pad test the first time. I'm doing this because my neurologist wants me to see their urologist. Is there anything wrong with finding out why i leak? I want to rule out the serious causes. There could be something going on in my spine...and it could be treatable. That is motivation for me to continue. But, yes, I am getting near the end of my patience as far as tests go. I have not yet recieved a "this is what you have and heres what we can do" right now. You recieved a diagnosis of OAB. I have yet to get a diagnosis explaining the severity of my incontinence.

So, we dig deeper. But, i swear, this is it..after the U of M docs stop doing their tests, and give me an answer, then i move forward. '

So, with an MRI, a flurourdynamics study, yet another cystoscopy..that im NOT looking forward to.. and another EMG... maybe we'll have an answer. I guess why I'm going forward with this is because the U of M docs actually seem motivated to get to the bottom of this. And since this incontinence has neurological implications, these tests could be very important; they may save my moblility, bowel control, or even my life... so i dont mind the tests.

Only because last time i didn't get a definitve answer on what the problem is. I don't even know WHAT is going on. They still seem to be guessing. But, U of M is the last stop...they're doing a full bore MRI if that wont show it, nothing will...

also, the mere fact that the doctor told me something could be going in on my spine could be cause for concern. One thing he mentioned as a possibility is myleopathy. That has been known to rob people of their mobility eventually. This is not just about the incontinece, this is about my other neurological symptoms too. The neuropathy wasn't severe enough to cause my bladder problems apparently, even though i told the two were related. I am doing these tests to make darn sure that whatever it is is only affecting my bladder and nothing else. If the end result is, im incontinent for life, then all right.. but, if i will eventually be crippled.. i wanna know about it..

I am sort of with Sandy.I went in the hospital peeing my pants and came out peeing my pants. They never told me what was going on as they don`t know. They did some test like if I was completely emptying.I knew that was not the problem as I was emptying every five minutes. :(
I do have some honest doctors I think. When I told them both said that the could send me to a specialist. But a lot of the time the cure was worse than what was going on.I have had blood test the emptying test and I am not sure what else. They also did xrays and I guess a ultrasound. And nothing. Some of my heart meds make it worse but the way my heart doctor put it you rather die or have to wear protection when you need to.
And I need to some times pills or no pill plus high blood pressure and feel like crap.So just buy more diapers and go on with my life.
