Could we get a longer login timeout?

24 hours or something (longer is better). I think the current setting must be 30 minutes. I've lost posts because I was logged out before I posted it, and it's just generally annoying. Maybe others feel differently, but we're not protecting state secrets here, seems like we could just stay signed in.

I agree - I've lost posts, too. At first I thought it was a way to discourage posters from rambling on, but I've seen some seriously long posts. Those people must type as fast and accurately as I did pre-stroke! The secret for not losing posts is to hit the submit button periodically, then continue your post by editing it as many times as needed until it's complete. I think the time out is closer to 20 min.

I generally copy the text before hitting submit, but sometimes I forget.

I actually type really fast, but generally visit this site from my phone, and tap typing with my off hand thumb (as I'm doing now, while putting my son to sleep) is pretty slow.

That's a great idea. :D

I have upped the time limit to 4 hours.
That should make it a lot easier to post new messages. :D

With all web pages, this site included, for security reasons, everyone should log-out when you are done.
The reason for that is to protect everyone in-case there is ever any security breaches, on either this server or on your own personal computer.
